I did a BBC radio thing about this which for a limited period is available on BBC Sounds. More religion involved than I expected (and no Barbie) but I think my only regret is I didn’t mention Isidor Rabi’s role in the founding of CERN.

Future Circular Collider week in London

Earlier this month the international collaboration which is working towards a possible collider at CERN to follow on from the LHC met in London. I had some role from the UCL side in organising it, and was also part of a panel for a public event at the Royal Society on the Thursday evening. There is a good write up of this, and other aspects of the meeting, byJohn Hammersley at Digital Science.

The Stonehenge of Particle Physics

.The Cosmic Shambles team visited CERN, Clara and I showed them round ATLAS and talked with Robin.

It clearly works for Robin, but I’m not sure about the title – makes me think of Spinal Tap and the dancing dwarves. But fine, it was a fun trip and Robin gave a good show in the CERN main auditorium, which is a tough venue unless you have a new boson to announce…
